Election of representatives takes place in October.

Demographics have changed over the past 40 years. It's time to take back our electric cooperative, give equitable balance to our representatives and uphold the bylaws.

The Austin American Statesman www.statesman.com

This is an Austin, Texas newspaper that covers the activities of the Pedernales Electric Cooperative which was investigated by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. A search on their website will pull up a wealth of interesting material. Claudia Grisales is the lead reporter on the ongoing story.

The Austin Chronicle www.austinchronicle.com

Another Texas newspaper with extensive coverage of the Pedernales scandal.

Socorro Electric Cooperative:

www.socorroelectric.com

The web site for SEC has a Links page for the Community, Affiliated Organizations, New Mexico State Government, and the Federal Government.
The Coop has just posted “Excerpts” from the FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEARS ENDED MARCH 31 2008 AND 2007. The entire audit is very interesting but two pages are particularly noteworthy to the members of the coop. Page 12 of 25 addresses Return of Capital and Patronage Capital; page 25 of 25 covers Administrative and General Expenses. It is uncertain whether the amounts listed for Directors’ Fees and Expenses includes the amount for their Health, Dental, and Vision insurance.
